Clarify Your Offer and Make More Money

Clarifying

Imagine two stores sitting right next to each other in a busy shopping mall.

One sells EVERYTHING.

Garden tools. Candy bars. T-shirts. Car parts. Baby bottles.

You name it, they probably have it.

The other store?

Chocolate.

That’s it.

Belgian chocolate. Swiss chocolate. Dark chocolate. Milk chocolate. Chocolate-covered peanuts. Chocolate gummy bears.

If it involves chocolate, they sell it.

If it doesn’t?

You’re out of luck.

Now at first glance, you might think the first store has the smarter business model.

Makes sense, right?

Why limit yourself?

Why only sell chocolate when you could sell chocolate AND greeting cards AND candy dishes AND a hundred other things people might want?

Sounds logical.

But here’s where things get interesting.

The store selling everything might get MORE customers.

But the chocolate store can build a much BETTER business.

Let me explain.

The Problem With Selling Everything

When you try to sell everything to everyone, something happens.

Your business starts becoming blurry.

Nobody really knows what you’re known for.

You’re just…

There.

You have a few products over here.

A few services over there.

Maybe one cheap offer.

Maybe another completely unrelated product.

And before long, your business looks like somebody emptied a junk drawer onto a website.

Not good.

The problem isn’t necessarily that your products suck.

The problem is that there’s no clear connection between them.

No obvious direction.

No strong identity.

And most importantly…

No compelling reason for someone to choose YOU.

Now Look At The Chocolate Store

The chocolate store doesn’t have this problem.

You walk through the door and immediately understand what they do.

Chocolate.

Simple.

Clear.

Obvious.

And because they specialise, something else happens.

People start assuming they’re experts.

If I want some random household junk, maybe I’ll go to the everything store.

But if I want REALLY good chocolate?

I’m going to the chocolate shop.

And I’ll probably expect to pay more.

That’s the magic.

Specialisation makes comparison harder.

And when people can’t easily compare you to everybody else…

Price becomes less important.

Think About Your Own Business

What does this have to do with you?

Everything.

Whether you’re a coach, consultant, service provider or selling products, you need to know exactly what you offer…

And exactly WHO you offer it to.

If somebody lands on your website right now, can they immediately understand what you do?

Or do they have to sit there piecing together the puzzle?

You’ve got a course on one topic.

A service on another.

A cheap PDF.

Some random consulting package.

An old product you haven’t touched in two years.

And maybe something you created because somebody once told you passive income was a good idea.

See the problem?

You’re becoming the store that sells everything.

More Products Does NOT Always Mean More Money

This is where people get caught.

They think:

More offers = more opportunities to make money.

Not necessarily.

Sometimes more offers simply create more confusion.

And confused people don’t buy.

Your ideal customer should be able to look at your business and think:

“Yep. This is for someone exactly like me.”

That’s what you want.

Because when your offers are tightly aligned with your market, each product reinforces the next.

Your brand becomes stronger.

Your expertise becomes clearer.

And your customers become more valuable.

Instead of constantly hunting for random new buyers, you start creating people who come back again…

And again…

And again.

The Difference Between Traffic And Loyalty

Remember our two stores?

The everything store probably gets plenty of traffic.

Of course it does.

Everybody needs something.

But there’s a problem.

Those customers have very little loyalty.

If another store opens across town selling the exact same thing for 10% less…

They’re gone.

No goodbye.

No emotional farewell.

Nothing.

They simply follow the cheaper price.

The specialist store is different.

Their customer already KNOWS where to go when they want chocolate.

They trust the store.

They understand what it stands for.

They may even tell their friends about it.

That customer might visit less often than somebody walking through the giant discount shop…

But when they do visit?

They spend.

And they come back.

That’s the customer you want.

Take A Look At Your Virtual Storefront

So here’s what I want you to do.

Take a hard look at everything you currently sell.

Ask yourself:

  • Does this fit my brand?
  • Does this attract the kind of customer I actually want?
  • Does it naturally connect with my other products and services?
  • Does it strengthen what I want to be known for?
  • Is it priced where I want my business positioned?

And here’s the big one…

If I removed this offer tomorrow, would my business become clearer or weaker?

Be honest.

You might discover you’ve been hanging onto products simply because you already created them.

That’s not a good enough reason.

Don’t Be Afraid To Cut

Sometimes the fastest way to grow your business isn’t creating something new.

It’s removing something old.

Kill the cheap products that attract the wrong people.

Remove the random offers that confuse your market.

Stop trying to serve absolutely everybody.

Focus on the products and services that sit right in the middle of what your ideal customer desperately wants…

And then make those offers ridiculously good.

Improve them.

Strengthen them.

Increase the value.

Make your reputation around them.

Here’s The Takeaway

You don’t need to become the store that sells everything.

You want to become the store people immediately think about when they want ONE specific thing.

Because clarity builds authority.

Authority builds trust.

Trust builds loyalty.

And loyalty?

That’s where the real money is.

So look at your business today.

Strip away the clutter.

Clarify what you sell.

Clarify who you sell it to.

And become damn good at delivering exactly what that market wants.

Do that properly…

And you won’t need to compete with everybody else on price.

You’ll have customers who specifically want YOU.
